Seahorses Host Sangyo University from Shizuoka, Japan

the team experienced a taste of Southern California following a Pancake breakfast with a beautiful day of shopping & sightseeing at Hungtington Beach.  On Sunday they experienced the church service at First Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton then in the afternoon took on the Seahorse PDL tryout team members.  Though most did not understand much of the message, they were given a booklet with testimonies of famous Japanese Christians to read during the service. Prior to the match both teams observed a moment of silence followed by prayer in memorial of the one year anniversary of the March 11th 2011 earthquake and Tsunami.  They were treated to a BBQ Ribs dinner that night and on Mon. March 12th packed up in prep for their last game vs the UC Irvine Anteaters.  They had to play with just 11 men since so many had contacted flu & a cold on the airplane.  This summer the Seahorses will take the Biola University women’s team (coached by our own PDL head coach - Todd Elkins) to Shizuoka and will play the Sangyo University women’s team for a pre-season tour. In addition to Shizuoka, the women will serve our US Military in Iwakuni by providing a camp for their children and will play matches in  Osaka Japan where we have established a Japan version of the Seahorse Soccer Ministry led by Masa & Chie Yokota.
