The Futsal Tournament held at Whittier Area Community Church on 11/24/07 was a God honoring event as 14 different teams came together not only to play but to also fellowship and to hear testimonies. Congratulations to the Champions for each of the categories:
U13-Lemon Street Park
U18-CC Downey-TJ Cougars
Open—JC United
This time is very encouraging for the Seahorses as it is a good place for the different Sports Ministry projects to join in one event. Some highlights were to have three of the boys that had accepted Christ in Chino a few weeks before present at the event. There were also three different teams from two churches represented. This participation is a direct fruit of what the churches are involved with on a regular basis. The boys that we work with regularly at Lemon Street had a team. There are many things for which we very grateful: Whittier Area Community Church and their willingness to open their gym, the different church leaders that have caught the vision of Sports Ministry, and for all those who willingly helped out and participated in this event for the glory of God!
A lot of good soccer with great enthusiasm was played throughout the day with twelve different teams participating in the 7th Annual Seahorse Tournament. Good sportsmanship was displayed with a Christ like attitude throughout the day. The U13 Tournament was won by Los Angeles Christian School Eagles. TJ Cougars from Azusa won the U18 category. New Hope Family Church’s Green Angels from Buena Park won the Open Category. Another highlight was the time of sharing among teammates and opponents. Two players, Matt Morse and Eddie Kesh had the opportunity to share about their lives and how God has touched and worked in their lives and their soccer. A big thanks to everyone that participated and we want to encourage each of you that played to keep playing for the glory and honor of God. We look forward to more Soccer Ministry with these groups.
