For Robin many childhood thoughts were also present. They visited and spoke at SAM Academy, where Robin’s parents had worked many years ago.
We are so thankful for Missionary Tom Hough and Institute Director Robert Escobar and for all the work that they did to make this Sports Ministry leadership training possible.

From Tuesday Nov. 8th until the following Monday the Shedds had the opportunity to join God in what He was doing with the Shipibo-Conibo Indian church leaders at the Bible Institute. The students (about 40) were very eager to learn about Sports Ministry. Some of the topics discussed were: The amorality of sport - sports are in themselves not good or evil, but amoral; Created in God’s image - because we are created in God’s image, we are both relational and creative; God given talents - people are given talents and interests by God and as we commit these to God He can use them to bring Him honor and glory.
They then divided themselves into 9 groups according to their communities and came up with their own Sports Ministry initiative. They worked on their initiatives with excitement and enthusiasm. The following day they shared with the others about their plans to take these initiatives back to their villages. Some of the things they came up with were; Youth Tournaments, Soccer training, School Program and a Soccer Clinic)
On Saturday the students had a Men’s and Women’s Tournament. God was honored at the Graduation Ceremony on Sunday. By Monday many graduates had come in for a retreat and the Shedds were able to include a session on Sports Ministry. It was amazing to see how with some training, the deployment potential for national Sports Ministers is enormous.
Paul & Robin were also able to spend time with their son Matt and his buddy Sean who were also in Peru reaching out to others.
Seahorse PDL coach, Todd Elkins, was also in Peru and has been since August working among the Indians of the Peruvian Amazon Jungle digging wells and developing sports ministry initiatives as well. He was very encouraged to be able to serve along with the Shedd’s while they were there.
